Golf Course Brief: Norman’s Barefoot course presents a stunningchallenge for all golfers. It is a unique layout for South Carolina and isdesigned in a way that resembles a course you would find in the deserts ofthe Southwest but without the desert. Each hole is enhanced by the beauty of the landscape and its natural vistas...magnificant. Seven holes play along the Intracoastal Waterway. The stunning waste areas and the site’s natural vegetation are used to frame each hole. Some holes haves fairways which flow into the surrounding native areas, while others have a rough but natual transition with the native land scape. The fairways and landing areas follow the natural lay of the land with some slants and angles. There are no angularor artificial lines that shape the course. Numerous bunkers throughout the golf course are strategically placed and are in most landing areas from your tee shot and also surrounding the approaches to the greens. The good news is that most have low lips and are relatively flat but occasionally there are a few sod-walled bunkers with sloping white faces that present an interesting challenge. The greens are gentle, undulating and are open to bring into play the "bump and run" shots that Norman likes. The greens roll very well all year round. It is truly a beauty for any skill level.
