Golf Course Brief:: Historic Little River, SC hosted both the famous and the infamous in its past. Her harbor is out of the main stream and was liked by bootleggers, blockade-runners, pirates and smugglers. They all hung out there from time to time. Even George Washington was said to have traveled here 1791. Now it is home to Heather Glen, an award-winning masterpiece build on 400 of these historic acres.
Byrd and Johnson combined their talents to build a spectacular 27 hole track. The natural beauty of this course starts with the drive up to the clubhouse. It is bordered by ancient oaks draped in Spanish moss, landscaped to the nines and leads up to a magnificent 19th Century British-styled clubhouse.
The course has some fifty-foot elevation changes, gigantic 100-year-old pine trees, pot bunkers, and waste areas spread throughout. The layout has wide open but tree lined fairways and elevated Bermuda greens. Combine these features with an abundance of dogwoods, oaks, hollies, century-old pines, bubbling brooks, winding streams in every part of the scenic landscape and you have golf the way it was meant to be. No houses, condo or villas will be seen from the fairways of Heather Glen. All nature surrounds you with every distinctive hole, especially the heather-laced dunes and Scotch Broom which are large shrub bearing flowers and flat pods. The greens are sloped with mounding around them. They also have some lovely undulating curve and ups and downs but despite this they run pretty true. The course is always perfectly maintained and ready for play in any season. The setting is truly spectacular and provides a good but fair test for every ability level.

Range Balls: Full range - Driving, chipping and putting is available for practice from dawn until dusk daily and balls are available to purchase - One size fits all $4 a bag. Range balls are complimentary prior if you book a package and are staying at one of the courses accommodations. Note rates are subject to change on occasion.
Golf School/Instruction:PGA professionals available 7 days a week to help improve your game.
Guest Policy: Proper attire, soft spikes, carts required, Bermuda length shorts or walking shorts allowed (no denim pants or shorts). Mens shirts must have a collar. Women’s shirts w/out sleeves must have collars; if without a collar then it must have sleeves. Halter tops and bathing suits tops are not permitted.
Course maintenance schedule or other notes: Summer maintenance is generally the last week of June. Exact dates are not posted because they do change depending on the season. If you are scheduling playing during these months call for exact dates.
Golf Course and Club House Amenities: The 18th century clubhouse is complete with an authentic pub.
Food & Drink:Whether is breakfast, lunch or dinner the course clubhouse offers a fabulous dining atmosphere.
